From Cheryl: Group 2 arrived and we rushed them off to a VERY remote village in Kampot province. The orphanage here is not progressing as quickly as they had hoped so we couldn't put the bunk beds together. The concrete walls around the orphanage (for the orphans protection) are built and they asked us to paint them – was HOT, sweaty work but lots of fun. Many of the local children (several are orphans) came by out of curiosity and we played games and sang and did a magic trick to explain the Gospel. Looking back…it was a very good day.
Our devotions while here have focused on The Great Commission, Joshua 1 and Romans 15:16. We talked about getting out of your comfort zone (Joshua 1) to do what GOD has commanded us (Great Commission). Since the group is young and looked really, really nervous when we arrived here (it's a small town and only a few places even have electricity) we wanted to encourage them and reminded them that THEY are claiming the land (spiritually) for GOD just as the Israelites did in Joshua and that it was okay to be nervous and/or afraid as long as they knew that GOD was with them every step of the way (focus on this part of all three verses). –good reminder for you guys, too, as you travel here!
